A widespread weed in North America, Europe and elsewhere, originating from Western Asia, Russia, formerly used in European folk medicine as a diuretic and to treat fevers, headache, nervous conditions and pain from inflammation, seldom used today because of its potentially liver-toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids.
