American Indians used leaf tea for colds, fevers, sore throats gas, colic, indigestion, headaches, diarrhea; in short, same medicinal uses as for Peppermint and Spearmint in Western folk medicine. Mentha canadensis and Mentha arvensis have been considered synonomous, however Art Tucker et al. has found M. canadensis to differ in chromosome number, distribution and chemistry.
