Sixty images of Petasites hybridus, Butterbur, Pestilence Wort, a member of the Aster Family (Asteraceae or Compositae). This widespread, variable, large-leaved perennial is found in wet soils in much of Europe. Traditionally the leaves and roots have been used for lung ailments, digestion and improved bile flow, as well as inflammation of the urinary tract. Today Petasites root extracts show promise as a preventative therapy for migraine, and in the prevention of bronchitis, and allergic rhinitis.
