Six photographs of the bark and trunk of young Ceiba pentandra, Ceiba, Kapok Tree, photographed in the Peruvian Amazon. This famous tropical tree which often grows along rivers has been over-exploited for plywood manufacture, given it's easy access. Bark and root used medicinal to treat fevers. The cotton from the seedpods is used by Amazon indigenous groups as a wrap on poison darts. The cotton was once used to stuff life jackets.
