Seven images of Common Polypody, Common Polypody Fern, Polypodium vulgare, an herbaceous perennial fern. It is a circumboreal species, with a range extending to mountains of tthe southern Northen Hemisphere. Traditionally the root has been used as an expectorant for coughs, chest congestion, liver ailments, lung afflictions, among others. Root contains sweet component, osladin, which is up to 3000 times sweeter than sugar. Images taken in Montenegro.
